In case you are not a fan of driving up PCH through Corona del Mar, there is a new Barclay Butera Interiors Showroom at the corner of Golden Rod and Pacific Coast Highway… 2824 to be exact. This location has a soft spot for Barclay as Butera had opened in the same location 26 years ago for his mother, Karen Butera King, when she opened a second location in Southern California. Her first interior design firm was based in Palo Alto. But Karen saw promise on the potential housing boom and the wealthy coastal cities. So when Barclay heard the space was to become available, he jumped on it.
The idea behind another location made perfect sense. A very busy HWY 1 location to attract attention of drivers by as well as an outpost on the other side of the back bay (Locals sometimes find it “far” to drive to “the other side”) capturing the CDM, Newport Coast, Crystal Cove and Laguna Beach interiors market. The 1400 square foot space is small but well-equipped for all aspects of designing your entire home, as well as gifts, lamps, sofas, chairs, rugs, drapery & tile… This location even has a kitchen and a gorgeous powder bath with an incredible navy crocodile wallcovering. A must see!! (Really wish we had a kitchen and bathroom at the Westcliff location!!)
The vibe is beach chic, effortless elegance, crisp white walls, oak floors, lots of marble and even a fireplace up to up the cool quotient. The designers who call this location home, Lauren, Blair and Jennie will be more than thrilled to pop open Prosecco and chat about chintz!
