A Park City Oasis Showcases Art

When our client from project Deer Crest visited our Park City showroom to design her seven-bedroom, new build in Deer Valley Resort, it was a perfect fit from the start.  She came to us with a vision and told us right away that she wanted to echo the design aesthetic of one of her favorite shops in Park City, Gorsuch. The fact that she already has great taste, both in her personal style and her eye for art, made the project an opportunity to let her personality shine throughout her home.  She has a great appreciation for art which allowed us to push the boundaries and be able to use her home as a gallery of her curated art.

Our goal was to create a bright and airy home that was sophisticated yet comfortable.  We chose white oak hardwood floors for the living room, kitchen and main common spaces and kept the walls a fresh neutral color, contrasted by dark wooden beams.  The living room has stunning and expansive views overlooking Deer Valley Resort and the Jordanelle Reservoir, so we wanted to bring in some natural furnishings and finishes that would tie the exterior with the interior.  A floor to ceiling ledge stone fireplace anchors the living room, taking advantage of the tall ceilings, while two teak root tables warm up the space while adding an organic element.

The first time you get to see our client’s passion for art and a hint of her playful personality reflected in the home is when you walk into the kitchen and see a giant painting of a cereal bowl hanging over the jet-black stove range hood.  Another thoughtful example of her appreciation for art is the feminine mural, painted by artist Kristin Llamas, featured in her elegant master bathroom.  It was the perfect representation of our client’s glamorous style and her new roots in Park City Utah.

The neutral hues used on the main floor continued to the master bedroom and guest bedrooms, giving a cohesive clean pallet to the home. We also used simple tile patterns and muted shapes to allow her art collection to shine throughout the home.  Our client let us have fun by installing wall to wall leopard print carpet in her master bedroom, a signature touch from our Barclay Butera brand.  An oversized bed frame is not only necessary in her grand master bedroom but also pays homage to her southern upbringing.  What ultimately made this project a special one to work on is having the ability to allow our client’s personality shine through every room.
