Introducing Sagamore, Barclay Butera’s 4th Fabric Collection with Kravet

After three collections with Kravet, Barclay Butera was looking for something fresh. The esteemed designer wanted to stay true to his traditional signature style, but with a transitional spin, and the result is the massively appealing Sagamore collection. Butera was so pleased with the outcome, he used it in his recently renovated home.
“I am fortunate enough to refresh my own home every couple of years, and I knew when I saw Sagamore this was the direction I wanted to take,” says Butera. “The colors, textures and mix of velvet, sheers and patterns are spot on for the way I live today.”
Pattern & Texture
This exclusive collection of prints, weaves, embroideries, textures, stripes and drapery is a comprehensive offering, inspired by Butera’s spectacular travels. Sagamore echoes a curated, layered look, with a touch of global inspiration, for a timeless look.
“Sagamore is sophisticated and high-fashion with the depth and diversity of a well-rounded collection,” says Butera. “I think we achieved something very unique with Kravet.”
Inspired by the sand and sea, Sagamore borrows from its namesake’s nautical aesthetic for novelty pattern KNOT SPEED, offered in traditional blue and canvas colors. Featuring a bowline knot, reminiscent of sailing knots, this fabric was truly inspired by Butera’s signature aesthetic.
“The natural beauty and history of the iconic Sagamore Resort in the heart of the Adirondacks really captures the essence and feeling I wanted for this new collection of fabrics with Kravet,” says Butera. “It’s very picturesque without being pretentious; a real all-America classic.”
Butera also looked beyond our borders for inspiration. The designer’s global influence shines through some special patterns inspired by old-world documents from the Kravet archive. Derived from a 1900s suzani embroidery coverlet, SAUDADE is a printed Jacobean paisley with embroidered accents, which add depth to the overall pattern. MURAL VELVET, a modern faux skin pile velvet, is inspired by an abstract African geometric document. Sagamore also features specialty boucle yarns, like in XARANNA GRID, an abstract blockwork modern check. The yarns used in this linear pattern give it a lofted sheen and soft hand – something you might find at a glamorous yet rustic resort.
The colors in this collection reflect Butera’s worldly point of view while remaining rooted in coastal sophistication. Luxurious neutrals and nautical blues are paired with coral accents and hints of metallic for an eclectic offering. The muted, rich color palette accentuates the distinct style of the collection – a fun departure from Butera’s previous collections. Created with the designer in mind, Sagamore includes a range of weights and textures to outfit an entire home.
