16th Place

The vintage American flag and splashes of red were reminiscent of the Americana theme used in the Jasmine house but that is where the similarities ended. In lieu of wallpaper and wainscoting, I kept the walls and cabinetry a crisp white to create a calming canvas, a nice contrast to the walnut hardwood flooring and dark case goods. The living and dining areas provided a playful air of visual stimulation; lively punches of tangerine and kelly green merged with varying shades of cobalt and indigo blues. A heavy dose of woven sea grass added to the distinctive maritime air while an assortment of sea shells, blue-and-white pottery and a colorful collection of art came together to create a place of delight in this low-key beach cottage.
