The Mediterranean-style home’s open and spacious floor plan is ultimately what inspired my restrained design of the space – which was a departure for me. I knew that an abundance of patterned wallpaper, layered textiles and a heavy-handed use of accessories would not work here so my team and I kept to a decidedly midcentury modern foundation. We focused on incorporating a variety of textures and shapes which combined to create compelling compositions from every angle. The walls were purposefully kept stark white to establish a blank canvas that we punctuated with saturated abstract artwork and colorful upholstered pieces while a few well-placed metallic accents added a sleek jolt to the interior. The end result is a lighthearted and relaxing environment that embodies a fresh and vibrant take on desert design.
