Newport Beach, California

In an effort to embody my new “less is more” philosophy, I knocked down walls to open up the floor plan and replaced the bold blue-and-white color palette with one of soft, muted bluish-grey and neutral tones giving way to a lighter more harmonious atmosphere.  In order to cultivate a contrast in the décor, I covered the floors with several thick textured rugs in subdued colors and painted the extensive moldings and wood millwork a crisp bright white.  The existing furnishings and upholstery pieces were exchanged for ones that exhibited a balance of both modern and classic lines inviting a sense of comfort and relaxation.  Applying a minimalist approach to the accessories, I kept to simple stacks of books and unembellished glass hurricanes however I still made a point to incorporate my signature animal prints throughout the home.
